On Monday 13th November, people, across the world, celebrate ‘WORLD KINDNESS DAY’.

Being kind is a fundamental part of being human, it helps to build relationships and bridge gaps between nations and people.

One of our favourite sayings is, ‘In a world where you can be anything, be KIND!’ We even have a cup with this message scrolled across it.

World Kindness Day started in 1997 when a conference was held in Tokyo, Japan bringing together kindness organisations. This was the start of the Global Kindness Movement. World Kindness Day is held on the 13th November, every year.

If you’d like to know more about the timeline relating to World Kindness Day, you can see it here on Days Of The Year

Being kind has a huge impact on both parties; those giving kindness and those receiving kindness.

Think about a time you offered your kindness to someone, or when someone was kind to you. How good did this feel?

PRACTISING KINDNESS IS GOOD FOR OUR HEALTH

Kindness can help us, not only mentally, but physically because it increases our happiness it gives our bodies a boost. It can reduce blood pressure, help our immune systems and slows our aging rate.

You may be thinking, how can being kind help with all of these things, but think about it …

When you are happy, you feel much better about yourself, you feel more motivated therefore your body wants to do more things. When we are sad, or feeling down, our bodies can feel lethargic, it can take so much effort to do the littlest of things. So, when you are feeling this way, think about how you can be kind to yourself and others.

How could you celebrate World Kindness Day?

Firstly, go to School of Kindness and download their free kindness workbook.

Their mission to involve schools in the kindness movement is wonderful.

They have all kinds of fun activities on their website, from competitions to a kids club. You must check them out.
