MY FICTION
I’ve always LOVED reading women’s fiction, and when my MA in Creative Writing adventure started, as well as specialising in ‘self-reflective & therapeutic’ writing, I knew I wanted to complete a series of books based on the life of a woman that other women could relate to.
I was given the opportunity to showcase my skills when ‘Adele Parks’ hosted a competition, that involved a short story about an engagement.
I was so proud to have won the competition which entailed one-to-one coaching with Adele, which was utterly amazing.
It was from here I went on to write the ‘myself series’
I liked the humour, tension, character development. It’s a clean script, definitely the strongest. Congratulations Victoria!
THE ‘MYSELF’ SERIES
Kat has a busy life. She runs her own beauty salon and has an alcoholic father to worry about. To make matters worse she has just discovered she is pregnant.
Kat and Max have only been together for six months and she has a turbulent relationship with his mother and his ex-girlfriend who refuses to go away.
As the pressure builds Kat finds herself wondering what path to take.
Is having a baby the right thing to do?
Can she keep her head above water while her life spirals out of control?
Kat has some big decisions to make and whatever happens, her life is going to change forever…
Holding Myself is the first book in a series featuring Kat. To start with the book feels like it’s going to be some sort of light hearted chick lit read but it is actually much deeper than that …
Yup – this is one of those books that you just can’t put down.
Victoria J Brown has a wonderfully enchanting writing style and the narrative just flows so perfectly, enveloping you in Kats life right from the first page, that it’s impossible to put down. She has created an extremely likeable character that we can all empathise with and recognise, bringing Kat to life so vividly that the reader feels as though they are reading about a real-life friend. And that ending!! Needless to say I am now VERY excited to read the next book in the series and follow Kats chaotic lifestyle as it unfolds further. Surely the worst is over for Kat now……or is it!?
I have just finished reading the Chaos Series Books 1,2 and 3 and have thoroughly enjoyed them. Very well written and the author displayed great insight and understanding of a great range of personal insecurities, fears, dreams, losses and problems that we all have to face at one time or another. Great read and look forward to reading more by this author.
It’s very rare that an author can create a set of characters who feel like friends immediately, but Mrs Brown has definitely managed it
